Whilst the gameplay itself hasn’t changed in that you are still hacking away at a mass of enemies through generated levels, the combination of new maps, the new roguelike expedition selection map and Chaos God effects give this game a new lease of life. I’m really enjoying the Chaos Wastes game mode, and am very much looking forward to playing the mode multiplayer with the rest of the Sprues & Brews team once they too have the game updated. Alongside the release of Chaos Wastes you’ll also have the option to purchase the Forgotten Relics downloadable content, which adds five new weapons, including the Trollhammer Torpedo (for Bardin) and a Moonfire Bow (for Kerillian). Speaking of weapons and armour, a raft of new equipment has been added to the game. I really like that this new game mode feels very different from the main storyline of the game, giving even the most veteran of players a new experience. Whilst you keep your level, the stripping back of gained equipment gives the game a fresh feel. It’s important to note that by entering the Chaos Wastes you’ll have to leave previously collected weapons and armour behind. If you’re running low on health or potions, then the choice is there to simply walk past it and continue on your way. These take some serious killing, but you’ll be rewarded with a chest of goodies for your efforts. You’ll sometimes encounter chests that spawn elite enemies. Pilgrim’s Coins can also be used to purchase new weapons and army, to help in your battle against Chaos. These vary in usefulness, some offering individual bonuses, whilst others boost the party. These can be spent on boons purchasble from shrines dotted throughout the campaign.

VERMINTIDE 2 WINDS OF MAGIC MAPS HOW TO

Because once you undestand how to use this, you will hate the vanilla one even more.As well as the normal potions and such you can collect as you traverse the landscape, you can also collect Pilgrim’s Coins. My fault for buying something before looking for informations about itĮdit: the worst thing about winds of magic is the supreme crafting system by the way. My problem was, i bought this dlc immediately because i thought these whole wind of magic effects was something that can randomly appear on the normal maps to spice things up. So all in all, i had some fun in the middle to high waves but i think it wasn't worth the money even if the weapons are nice (still use mostly vanilla weapons, but more is always better) Also if you manage to get high enough than have fun with beeing a oneshot by almost everything. They look amazing and are fun to play, but i don't like the fixed spawns because it feels like there is no reason to replay this wave once you conpleted it.Īnd if you play this dlc enough than you will end at the really high waves were you will fail over and over again until you know exactly were and when each enemy spawns, and for me this is boring (even if i love dark souls). Than after you finnaly grinded to all that boring stuff you get to the fun waves. The thing is for most players the first waves are boring because it's way to easy. Imagine if those cool weapon skins were skins you could actually get and use instead of being nothing. Imagine if they had added the weave mutators caused by the winds of magic to the base game and used it to overhaul the deed system so that you can choose the background/gimmick/theme of each mission in order to freely adjust the challenge and modifiers. Imagine if they had added the Athenor crafting to the base game as the new item system to replace random rerolling for hours. They could have taken all the production effort and budget they spent on weaves and added those features to the main game instead of segregating them to a minigame distraction that has zero replay value and barely works. Then, and most importantly, weaves are the biggest waste of development time and money I've ever seen in a non-MMO videogame before.

Not only is a single map for an "expansion" already pathetic, because it should have been a 3 or 4 map "mission set" like all the others already in the game, but that map is also terrible. The only things I got out of the entire dlc were the new weapons and cata difficulty (imagine locking a difficulty level behind dlc, good job dividing the queues even more).
